Pleasantly impressed with everything. The staff, food, and atmosphere was really nice and calming. Ordered the guacamole, salmon, corn, fries and shrimp tacos. Everything tasted really good. Service was on point and relaxing. Valet is available and probably recommended unless you arrive at a good time for street parking downtown

Mexta is an absolute gem that delivers a vibrant and flavorful culinary experience! We started with the Hamachi Tiradito, which was both a feast for the eyes and the palate. The portion size was generous, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. The Red Snapper stole the show as the best dish of the evening, expertly prepared and bursting with freshness. The Cauliflower with its creamy cheese bechamel and a delightful spicy kick was a standout side, showcasing the chef’s skills. Finally, the Filet Mignon with Mole offered rich and earthy flavors despite the slight overcooking. For dessert, we opted for the Chocolate Brownie, a solid and indulgent choice that ended the meal on a high note. From start to finish, our meal was a delight, with only one minor hiccup—the filet mignon was slightly overcooked compared to the requested medium rare. That aside, everything else was exceptional. Mexta combines excellent food, thoughtful presentation, attentive service and a welcoming ambiance, making it a must-visit for any food lover. Also, finally a place where we don’t need to scream to have conversation. We can’t wait to return!

With a nod from Michelin we decided to try Mexta very early on a Friday just after 5. Since the restaurant had just opened it was largely empty. The hostess walked us to a table next to a loud table. We politely asked to be staggered a few tables away but she refused but insisted on a long explanation that was unnecessary. Our waiter Antonio was excellent and very attentive throughout the evening, and every suggestion he gave was spot on. The Shrimp Ceviche was chilled in a beautiful server, with bright citrus flavors with really plump shrimp. The Piquillo Pepper was earthy and paired well against the ceviche but we felt less sauce would have improved the dish. For the main course we each loved the Pacific Red Snapper and Chicken Stuffed with Huitlacoche, but again felt they were sitting in too much sauce. The sauces almost drowned the fish and chicken which was too bad because they were cooked perfectly. We ordered Brussel Sprouts as a side and these were perfectly cooked with a little kick in a cute hot pot. The best part was the Strawberry Shortcake as dessert: four different forms of strawberries one of which was cotton candy fluffs. The strawberry sauce poured over top doesn’t have liquor in it, but it was so tangy it gave the same impression. Not too sweet and the perfect finish. We should have ordered two! If you are pressed for time, can’t get a reservation, or just want to test a visit without a full meal then I recommend entering behind the hostess stand and sitting in the bookcase area at the bar. It’s a more beautiful part of the restaurant, has first come first serve full meal service and has sofas to stretch out on. We will definitely be back, it was a good blend of Mexican and Spanish cuisine.

Soooo good. Came here for my birthday dinner. We absolutely loved the food. We tried about 6 different items and all were phenomenal. Our favorites were the Baja shrimp tacos, fries (trust me), Filet Mignon with black mole, and Mexta Shrimp Aquachile. Loved the aesthetic of this place as well! Very unique and well done layout/deign. Will definitely be back.

We went here almost by mistake. We walked up and down the street to see what was on offer and we took a chance. Very glad we did. We had a seat at the bar and it was happy hour. The food here is extremely good, we had the two tacos & a beer deal for 20 - those tacos were beautiful!

What can’t we say?!? From the illuminating smile the hostess had (Valeria), to the charming spirit of Carlos, their genuine desire to provide the ultimate experience was phenomenal! There is no way we’ll ever look at an old fashion the same way! The flavors continued to impress with every dish!!!!
